Board of Directors Application

Applicant Questionnaire:

ABC of Greater Houston is looking for Board members who are ready, willing, and able to help make the Greater Houston Chapter the best organization in the nation. Board Members are elected to serve a 3-year term starting January 1, 2024, ending December 31, 2026, after which they become eligible to serve on the ABC Executive Board. The minimum expectation for a Board Member is to attend a monthly Board meeting from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month and regularly participate on a standing committee. Typically, committees meet for 1 ½ hours monthly.

2024 Board of Director Responsibilities:

A good Board Director will:
1. Set policies and goals that will guide the association and staff.
2. Ensure adequate funding to achieve the goals and that money is responsibly spent.
3. Act in the best interests of the association.
4. Fully support the association.
5. Ensure policies are carried out by the board, staff, committees, or consultants.
6. Act in accordance with association Bylaws, Code of Ethics, and governing policies.

Mission Statement:

Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston represents the interests of merit shop contractors and its employees in the policy-making process of the government; protects and enhances the free enterprise system within the construction industry; and provides educational, marketing, and informational programs for the benefit of members and their employees.
