Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. Greater Houston Chapter and the Scholarship Foundation presents the 2025-2026 Scholarship Application

Including the Phil Coplen Memorial, Michael Moore Memorial, Jim Gaudet Memorial, Bill Brown Memorial, Bob Taylor Memorial, Diversity & Inclusion, Ladies Operating for Growth in Construction, and Emerging Leaders in Training & Experience Scholarships.

Rules and Requirements

A. Awards

  1. The ABC Greater Houston Chapter Scholarship Committee will review applications in May 2025. The committee will consider each applicant's interest in construction, grades, extracurricular activities, employment experience, and financial need if given.
  2. Scholarship funds will be sent to each recipient's college or university for disbursement. Some restrictions may apply to the disbursement and use of funds.
  3. All scholarship recipients will be announced when the process has been completed. Awards will be available for the 2025-2026 academic calendar.

B. Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at a university or community college at the time of application, and funds must be applied to undergraduate studies for either the fall 2025 or spring 2026 semester.
  2. Applicant must pursue a degree in Construction or a related field.
  3. Applicant must have completed a minimum of 40 semester college credit hours if pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  4. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 24 semester college credit hours if pursuing an associate degree.
  5. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

C. Requirements

The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the ABC Greater Houston Chapter Scholarship Committee receives all the following items no later than May 15th 2025. Failure to send ALL of the following information will result in automatic disqualification.

  • Completed original application form.
  • Two reference letters on letterhead and signed by the person of reference. (emailed or mailed directly by the reference).
  • Unofficial transcript or grade report from the college registrar.
  • Copy of degree plan.
  • Essay as described in section VI of application.

2. What are your career aspirations and what do you hope to achieve professionally with your degree?
3. How do you hope to affect your community?
4. What strategies have you used to respond to diversity challenges?
5. Describe when and how a woman has influenced your career or aspirations.
